About Venture on Wheels
History
Venture on Wheels was started in 1996, when Asheesh did a bike ride through the uppermost reaches of Himachal Pradesh with a friend. During the trip that covered over 6000 kilometres, and also visited Rajasthan and Maharashtra, they decided to let other people experience the fantastic scenery, people and cuisines via guided tours through various regions of India. Over the next couple of years, Venture on Wheels was born.
About Anji
Anji has traveled across the Sahara desert in 1964 and in 1965 rode from England to India on his BSA Super rocket 650cc.
An engineer by profession, he has experienced both the corporate world as well as run a variety of entrepreneurial ventures. Something that has been a major part of his life is a passion for classic british motorcycles and vintage cars. Anji is a restoration expert, having restored numerous vintage beauties including Bentleys, Rolls Royces, Lagondas; and will consult on vintage bike and car restoration. Between Anji and Asheesh they have an eclectic collection of vehicles that includes 26 classic motorcycles and a 1919 Ford Model T.
About Asheesh
Asheesh was sailing along in the cubicle-bound corporate world and one day decided to follow an impulse: to do something different! Being Anji’s son and having learnt at the age of 14 how to disassemble and reassemble a motorcycle, it has been a natural progression into his role as a founder member of Venture on Wheels.
His love of the outdoors coupled with his zest for adventure-based travel ensures that the routes are varied, the experiences sharply vivid and the memories everlasting.
Both Asheesh and Anji have done many trips across India on Royal Enfield – their choice of bike to do the length and breadth of India with. They have vast experience in handling all situations that arise from traveling on the roads of India. They can fix anything mechanical enroute, and being keen travelers themselves they understand the needs of a fellow traveler. Asheesh has experience in the Hospitality industry and also is skilled in first aid.
